Most ingredients sold for dark marks work by force. Strong acids strip the surface; bleaching agents suppress pigment across the whole face. On melanin-rich skin, force is the problem. Every sting is a small inflammation, and inflammation is what made the mark in the first place.
Niacinamide, vitamin B3, works differently. Melanin is made in cells called melanocytes and then handed up to the skin cells above them. Niacinamide slows that hand-over. Less pigment reaches the surface, so existing marks fade as the skin renews and new ones form lighter. It also strengthens the barrier, which means less water loss, less ashiness, and fewer of the small irritations that start the cycle again.
Why it leads our serum
The Even Tone Serum pairs niacinamide with centella, which calms the irritation that becomes a mark; hyaluronic acid, which keeps skin hydrated while it changes; and a small amount of lactic acid to smooth the surface. It sinks in fast, leaves no film, and contains no added perfume.
Three to four drops, pressed into skin, morning and night. Wear mineral SPF every morning. Give it eight weeks.
